Hyaluronic acid is present throughout the body. Especially in the connective tissue, all fluid-filled spaces outside the cells, and the vitreous body of the eye.
Hyaluronic acid is also an important component in the fasciae, which surround all muscles, bones and organs like a net, as well as in joint fluid and joint cartilage.
Due to its spatial structure, it can bind a lot of water and thus contribute to the stability and friction-free movement of the joints. It supports the damping and lubricating properties of the joint fluid.
In the area of the skin, hyaluronic acid ensures elasticity and firmness of the connective tissue.
Hyaluronic acid only remains in the body for a short time and the body's own production decreases with age, so that an external supplement can become useful to counteract the typical signs of ageing such as wrinkling, joint complaints, problems in the intervertebral spaces, etc.
Other not yet sufficiently proven tasks in the body are assumed, for example in the area of wound healing, UV protection and as a radical scavenger.
